Highland Town Hall is the first place to go for local town records. The office is at 3333 Ridge Road, Highland, IN 46322. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. You can reach Town Hall by phone at (219) 838-1080. Local government files such as meeting minutes, ordinances, budgets, and contracts are kept here.

Under IC 5-14-3-3, any person can inspect and copy public records during regular business hours. You do not need to be a Highland resident. You do not need to say why you want the records. The town must respond to in-person requests within 24 hours and written requests within 7 calendar days. These are state rules that apply to every public office in Indiana, including Highland Town Hall.

For records beyond what the town keeps, you need to go through Lake County. Court filings, property deeds, mortgages, and vital documents are all handled by county offices in Crown Point.
